  Overview:

MS Word is software used for word processing. It is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. You can use MS Word to write letters, memos, reports, essays and any other documents you wish. You can also create documents for the web and also create tables. Once you complete a document, you may print it or save it. MS Word gives you many tools, some of which we will discuss in the next few sections. So lets get started

  Starting MS Word:

If you have Microsoft Office on your computer, do the following to start MS Word

Start   Programs Microsoft Word

The first thing I want to talk about is the menu toolbar that you see on top of the page. It looks something like this




The toolbar is divided into different menu choices like File, Edit, View etc.  Each menu option like File, Print caters to a specific function on the document. For example Print lets you print the word document to a printer and so on. Every menu option gives you more choices in a drop down list. When you click on File, you get a drop down menu that looks like this. This is just an example of a drop down menu to show the effect.
