Apple’s iPhone has certainly rocked the smart phone market, and stole the hearts of many of its users. However, somewhere in the background, Apple’s iTouch has also notched up impressive sales figures without half the world realising. The iTouch was a perfect middle ground option for those who wanted something more impressive than the iPod, but yet couldn’t afford the iPhone. Hence slowly but surely iTouch has gained a lot of fans across the world, and is an integral part of Apples business.

Though the iPhone has recently faced a lot of competition, the iTouch has faced hardly any. But no longer! As Sony has decided to take Apple head on by launching the first android based Walkman media player series – The Z series.

DESIGN AND SPECIFICATIONS

The first of the series – the NW Z1000 – comes with the following dimensions: 134.4×70.9×11.1mm. Weighing just 156g, this device is extremely sleek and light, perfect for your pockets! The NW Z1000 comes with a pretty impressive 4.3 inch touchscreen with a screen resolution of 480×800 pixels. Powered by the Tegra 21GHz dual core processor, the device is quite powerful for a device of its size.

If you love your music, you will certainly love the features of this device by Sony It comes equipped with digital noise cancellation feature, which is handy. Additionally users can benefit from the convenience of the dedicated music button to jump straight to the music player. Add to that the ability to support a host of file types, and you have a device music lovers will surely enjoy!

In terms of connectivity, it shouldn’t be surprising that a device of this class has WiFi connectivity, GPS, and DNA. You also can make the most of the Bluetooth 2.1 feature as well as the HDMI output that the device comes with. And that’s still not all! You also have additional features such as a built-in mono speaker and an FM radio to further enhance your NW Z1000 experience.

PRICE AND RELEASE

According to Sony, the NW Z1000 will come in three versions – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The prices of these three versions approximately will be US$365, US$430 and US$560 respectively. Sony has so far only announced its Japan release date, which is the 10th of December. However the rest of the world will have to wait and watch till Sony makes its next announcement!
